UPM WISA® Form Birch plywood

WISA®-Form Birch plywood is a multipurpose plywood made solely from birch (hardwood) veneers bonded together in a cross-banded construction. Its special coating permits its application in concrete formwork.

Three iconic skyscrapers in Shanghai (Shanghai World Financial Centre, Shanghai International Financial Centre and Shanghai Tower) have all used UPM WISA®-Form Birch plywood panels for casting the concrete.

To the developer, UPM WISA®-Form Birch is well worth the investment. Panels may be reused 20 – 80 times, depending upon factors including good site practice, required concrete finish, care taken when compacting the concrete and storage of the plywood forms.

Bonding

Phenolic resin cross-bonded weather resistant glueing according to EN 314-2 / class 3.

Surface and edges

Face and reverse: Dark brown phenolic film 120 g/m2 or 220 g/m2 moisture barrier.
Edge sealing: water resistant paint.
